[KAA] Serial Experiments Lain 1-13 DVD (Complete)
Non-archive version of 315335 (But with proper filenames.)
Seriously, there's no reason to make a torrent with archived video files, unless you want it to die fast.
I have no affiliation with KAA and I take NO credit for the creation of any content.

In all honesty, I don't know. I have a drive full of old stuff and I'm just going through and seeing what I can reseed or reshare for the sake of posterity.
There is no reason to share this version anymore. It's made from the atrocious DVDs and the encoding is obsolete by today's standards. For a small/low-res release, a downscaled encoding from the Japanese blu-ray release, encoded to 8-bit h264 and AAC audio (in mp4 container) would be more appropriate.
Thanks for sharing. KAA had some good releases back in the day, even if they don't hold a candle to modern versions. I hold on to a lot of dated, archaic releases too, even if they're really bad. :) Because I guess someone has to? Not really, but I do anyway. Rozen Maiden from Anime-Keep, Zero no Tsukaima from Kuroneko, Chrno Crusade from (mostly) Animeforever, Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun from AnimeYoshi... to name a few. A lot of them are in XviD though because of my hardware limitations from the time. :/ I'll share whatever's desired though, lol.
Nice to see someone sharing some old KAA-rips, which is a great deal of quality in the last decade. Thanks, mate!
@Zurenriri: I agree KAA did some good stuff. Their version of Black Lagoon is still my favorite. It doesn't have the brightness boosting Funi's BD release does, too.
It can be hard to let go of those old copies. Looking through my own archives I have Oyasumi's Welcome to the NHK, Froth-Bite's Nodame Cantibile season 1... Still keeping Shinsen's Ergo Proxy release because the reference notes at the end are great.
Are there actually better subs for Welcome to the NHK than Oyasumi's? I'm still keeping them as the reference version on my HD as well.
Coalgirls also did Lain way back when, then someone reencoded it for archive compression.
@moozooh: I don't think there are, as far as typesetting. I watch them -- and I own the show on DVD.
@Weeboo: I used to have Coalgirls's Lain release (in 720). I ended up replacing it with NP-C's 1080 release after I bought the Funi CE boxset and found out how they botched the video.
Is this the Funimation DVD?
When I was younger, I always thought the newest of everything was better, but it turned out it's not always the case.
- encodes like moozzi2 exist (to each their own, not starting flame war here)
- some sources were originally only released in 720p but upscales exist, which is meaningless other than bloating filesize but people like 1080p or even 4k so yeah, RIP storage disk.
- original sources from different regions (ie. USBD, JPBD) may have differences too
As for Serial Experiments Lain, TIL that the BD version actually has vastly different composition compared to the original master for DVD.
Are the subs really good or something? lmao
