sad because track 2 is overall the better script if it weren't for the troll and/or unnecessarily long TL notes and some choice phrases (Doramatsurugi, Hanekawa-chan, pants...)

@Faio, I get the concern with those first two examples, but the literal translation of (パンツ pants) is actually pants, the translation to panties is just a very common localisation (the actual term for that is パンティ),

It means pants (in the sense mentioned, ie, underpants) or trousers depending on where emphasis is placed in the word (in Japanese).

While it may be used for pants, I disagree that it's just a common localization. Typically you'd use ズボン to refer to pants, パンツ almost always refers to panties

and at the very least, in the movie always refers to panties, so translating it as pants is just wrong since the English word pants doesn't refer to panties. It's not a localization either since the literal translation/meaning here is underpants/panties.

No different than say, an English word that might mean two different things. If according to the context, the word refers to meaning A, the only correct meaning of that word is A in that sentence. Translating it as if it meant B is just plain wrong then.

@Faio But the second track is a literal translation, and it does refer to that, maybe not in your locality, but it is a valid non-localised translation which, though intentionally humorous, is very accurate (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/pants?s=t)

It's a more accurate translation because pants can refer to either male or female underwear or trousers (though meaning trousers is rare and you're right that ズボン is probably less confusing, though I have definitely seen it used for both)
