Term explanations:
- Mixed Triple Chi (Sanshoku): A hand containing three chis with the same numbers, one chi in each suit.
- Closed [Hand] (Menzen): Your hand is closed when you haven't used any discards from other players. If you win from a ron with a closed hand, you get 10 minipoints (fu). Winning with a tsumo would be a yaku hand called...
- Closed Tsumo (Menzen Tsumo): A hand where the winning player self-draws the winning tile and has not stolen any tiles from discards.
- No points (Pinfu): A hand that contains 4 chi melds and a pair that is not made up of dragons or the seat/round wind; the winning tile must also complete an open ended chi wait, such as x56x waiting for the 4 or 7.
- One-shot (Ippatsu): A hand where a riichi-declaring player wins during the next go-around after his/her Riichi declaration. (This actually showed up in ep2 already but we forgot to note it earlier)
- Dead Wall Tsumo (Rinshan Kaihou): Winning with the tile drawn from the dead wall after a kan. (Also something we didn't note earlier)
- All simples (Tanyao): A hand with all simples, which are suit tiles numbered 2 through 8 - No 1, 9, or wind/dragon tiles.
