Totoro es un espíritu del bosque a quien encuentran la pequeña Mei y su hemana mayor Satuski en un árbol gigante cerca de su casa en el campo.

Su padre es profesor de universidad y su madre se encuentra enferma en el hospital en la cidudad. Cuando Mei se entera de que su madre puede estar empeorando, decide ir ella sola a visitarla. Cuando todo el mundo se da cuenta de que ha desaparecido sólo Totoro sabe dónde encontrarla.

Follow the adventures of Satsuki and her four-year-old sister Mei when they move into a new home in the countryside. To their delight they discover that their new neighbor is a mysterious forest spirit called Totoro who can be seen only through the eyes of a child.
