This week, "journeys in japan" visits Oze - a highland marshland at about 1,400 meters above sea level. The area attracts about 300-thousand visitors a year, many of them hikers. They come to see the rich flora. About 1,500 plant types are found here, including rare alpine flowers. And the delicate ecosystem is well protected. Malaysia-native Deborah walks through the gorgeous marshland, which is teeming with life in summer.

Hot springs
The foot of Oze is known as a hot springs resort.
The scenery of the mountains viewed from the open-air hot spring is absolutely overwhelming.

From Tokyo, board a highway express bus and shuttle for the four hour journey to Oze's trailhead. Oze can also be reached by train and bus.
