The brand began in 1962 when she displayed with her mother, Kimiko, at the Torii boutique. Its colorful printed patterns made it the original kawaii, ultra-cute brand but it also established a reputation for elegance at the December '75 Paris Pret-a-Porter collection and elsewhere. We report on this year's fiftieth anniversary special fashion show and look for the creative essence of the designer of this grand old brand.

Cable knits hit the town this winter
Rough-knit cardigans go great with short pants or leggings. Closed in front they work as dresses, too. There are all sorts of ways to wear them. Dolman sleeve types also appeared from this spring. We look at the range of rough-knit items and how they are coordinated.
