Dragon Ball Z Recut is a fan edit of the Dragon Ball Z anime with the goal of aligning it more closely with the manga. We do this by removing filler scenes, shortening padding, and rearranging scenes to match their order in the manga (we also fixed some mistakes from the original show).

Great care is taken through an extensive editing process to ensure that all cuts and edits are seamless. We also aim to preserve the original score from Shunsuke Kikuchi, Japanese broadcast audio, and Japanese vocal performances (In contrast to Dragon Ball Kai).

Content Restoration & Accuracy Fixes

• Episode 005 – Restored a missing manga panel.
• Episode 013 – Restored several missing manga panels.
• Episode 078 – Repositioned a manga panel from Episode 079’s intro to a more proper spot within Episode 078 for continuity.
• Episode 083 – Restored a couple of missing manga panels in the form of a brand-new intro before the Title Card.
• Episode 125 – Restored a couple of missing manga panels during the Super Saiyan 3 Goku vs Kid Buu fight.

Continuity & Logic Adjustments

• Episode 005.5 – Removed a reference that pointed to cut filler involving Goku falling down to Hell.
• Episode 033 – Updated a shot of Ginyu that was causing a small positional inconsistency in the Kaioken showcase scene.
• Episode 050 – Added a new line to resolve the inconsistency created when the scene of Vegeta directly witnessing Goku as a Super Saiyan was removed, preventing Vegeta from unrealistically knowing this information without having seen it.
• Episode 051 – Corrected Tenshinhan referencing Vegeta’s space training from removed filler content.
• Episode 054 – Updated a narrator line that previously referenced removed filler.
• Episode 086 – Adjusted a narrator line during the Trunks outro scene to eliminate reference to cut material.
• Episode 090 – Adjusted Gohan’s reaction so it no longer references Videl taking off his face bandage, since both the animation and the visible bandage have been removed.
• Episode 127 – Extended episode with footage from Episode 128 until the end of the arc. Updated lines from Piccolo, Goten, Trunks, and Gohan that referenced scenes no longer present. Also fixed positional continuity errors for the four aforementioned characters resulting from their back-and-forth movement between Kami’s Lookout and the wilderness.
• Episode 128 – Updated episode content/logic to remain consistent with the newly edited Episode 127.

Outdated or Incorrect Release States

• Episode 079 – Updated the episode from an outdated version that got released by accident to a finalized state.

Minor Behavioral / Visual Tweaks

• Episode 016 – Adjusted Bulma’s emotional reaction to almost everyone dying for better consistency.
• Episode 124 – Corrected a vanilla DBZ positional continuity issue during Buu’s landing on the Kaioshins' planet.
