Encoding details:

The Japanese BD is slightly better than the US release, though both are of excellent quality. The source was rescaled (Mitchell 1536.38, 864.21), fully denoised and degrained. Light AA and dehalo were applied as the source was presharpened, and grain was then re-introduced using AV1's photon noise.

The approach is the same one we used for the Takamine encode; simply put, we believe AV1 offers significantly superior dynamic grain retention at reasonable bitrates, without introducing unintentional high frequencies.
