Several minutes prior to the last episode's cliffhanger, Winry confronts Scar over her parents' murder.
She ultimately decides to bandage Scar's wounds, knowing her parents would do the same. Miles explains
to Scar that he joined the military to gradually change the way people think of Ishbalans.
Since Marcoh and May need Scar to decipher his brother's research, Miles offers to hide everyone at Fort Briggs,
with Al insisting on sparing the two chimeras. Winry devises a ruse to elude Kimblee by making it
look like Scar has kidnapped her, while Marcoh and company secretly head for Briggs via tunnels in the
mines just as a blizzard sets in. After Marcoh's group departs, Miles gets word that Olivier is no longer at Briggs,
and that the fort is now controlled by the Central forces. Al, uniquely able to brave the blizzard,
heads out above ground to find and warn Marcoh's group. Caught in the storm, Al briefly sees his body,
and wonders if it is trying to get its soul back. Meanwhile,
Father makes plans involving Ed, Al, Hohenheim, Izumi, and one more candidate.
