Well, love it or hate it, here is Shape of Happiness. This OVA is a massive parody of media of the time (1980s), sort of like Gintama of its time, but more incomprehensible, less funny, and primarily focused on video games (it was even serialized in Famicom Tsuushin [Famicom News] magazine, although past the first 2 volumes it became too expensive to pay royalties to the game right holders, so they turned it into a slice-of-life manga about the author). You may have never heard of this show or manga, but it actually spawned several games of it own, and its fandom in Japan is alive even to this day—the show's characters and tropes are relatively well documented on various fan sites, and its Pixiv page was last updated less than a year ago (I know, because Pixiv Encyclopedia about it was one of my primary sources). Due to the nature of this OVA, this translation would've been largely dysfunctional without the tasteful TL notes every 30 seconds. Some of them really are out there, and can put the Code Geass chess scene to shame, and as such I didn't see any point compiling them here. Those countless indecipherable references and absurdist humor are also what made this show so exhausting to work at, if it wasn't for nude Beruno. Still, if you don't care, we've also included a separate sub track without the TL notes.
