We didn't plan it this way, but now this release is dedicated to the memory of Shigeo Nagashima, who passed away exactly one month ago, on June 3rd, 2025. Because this show has been so obscure for ages, nobody bothered to add it to MAL and AniDB, so you won't find it there just yet. Essentially, it's just a semi-animated semi-documentary biopic about Shigeo Nagashima, an influential and beloved Yomiuri Giants player, who just so happened to pass away the day Marty sent me the raw for this show due to losing interest in subbing it himself. Admittedly, I did a quick-and-dirty on those subs, both because the audio on that VHS wasn't the best, and because it's essentially a baseball anime, and nobody cares about baseball, and only asked Collectr from Orphan to sort out the baseball lingo for me, but then we somehow found two more willing collaborators, and ended up with a proper and competent fansub team for Mister F'ing Giants of all things. After Collectr, Paul just felt obliged to watch it because we have a history of doing animentaries together, and NorainuG was simply incredibly hyped up for this show for whatever reason, so he TLCed the devil out of it, and made the baseball conversations actually comprehensible 🧎‍♀️.
