Encoding Details:
We applied dehaloing to the USDVD via VapourSynth and a liberal amount of film-grain synthesis and psy-rd to replicate the original grain and noise. No deinterlacing was performed so combing can be observed on very rare occasions, mainly in fading scenes.

This project is a production with the goal of the smallest video size with moderate subjective compromises to image quality. This is not the hallmark of AV1, but close enough. This release should only contain changes to the video stream and audio tracks. The subtitle and attachment tracks are usually copied from the noted sources. Timings are not adjusted except in cases of extreme delay as a result of mixing sources. -

The screenshots are provided primarily for comparing details, artifacts, and noise-reproduction so the color accuracy is not as important so long as the video playback is correct.

I really don't like that you opted to add in artificial grain instead of trying to retain it as much as possible. Why make a mini encode like this that fakes detail when all the other encodes suck you have a big opportunity to make the best release for the series.
R2J Source would also most-likely be quite a lot better than the USDVD.
