Satoshi, his mother, and Professor Ōkido vacation in the Isshu Region and a strange black cloud forms
and a lightning bolt hits Pikachu. After meeting up with Professor Araragi, Isshu's lead Pokémon researcher,
Satoshi meets up with Shooty (シューティー, Shūtī?) who is beginning his Pokémon League challenge with Tsutarja,
rather than Pokabu or Mijumaru. In a practice match, it is discovered that Pikachu can no longer use Electric
moves, which Professor Araragi attributes to the powers of the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom.
