I'm using mpv on a 2016 machine. Load is 35% on OP, 15% on pans, and 8% on still scenes. This replaces your 2018 720p version and is 3/4 the size with a great picture.

Thanks for the report on cpu load, that's really helpful. It's a bit hilarious and a bit sad how badly this beats the web encode.
