Damn, this would so deserve an adaptation, but with current trends it would be butchered with some third grade studio and even lower grade production. Manga has spot on roughness that would be lost without proper director and producer, a bit artsy style (not in a bad way, more like Totsukuni no Shoujo vibes) would suit for this better than some bog standard candy-colour-shojo-extrusion.
