Me finally turning off my laptop after 25 hours of video encoding:

Screens?
Good idea, just a sec
It is just a waste of efforts. The graphic card and the display determines the outcome.Upscaling a shit, still shit. If the original is watchable with 200MiB, why we need 800MiB for the same.....
upscales are against the rules but okay
@martinxk
- The original source I used was actually 1.6 GiB, not 200 MiB, since it wasn't transcoded. So it's actually smaller now, funnily enough.
- Often, people's graphics card and display determines how good a video looks. But when the video is 480p, the limiting factor is definitely the video quality and not the display or graphics card (unless your display is less than 480p, but in that case I can't help you).
wacc
fucking lmao
Yeah the blocking is ooom :( There was an attempt...guess we'll just have to wait until they release something other than DVD source
nice effort but nuke will come. Just like the daddysub version that was on yesterday. The 1080p one.
For what purpose...?
Is it me or are most of the fonts missing?
They should all be attached, but let me just check
EDIT: The fonts are all there, but the names got messed up. RIP, guess it's time for a v2.

I decided to try my hand at creating an upscale. I used mench's 480p rip, and upscaled each frame to double the size using waifu2x. I was initially planning to use video2x to do it automatically, but since DVD-format video is so funky I had to specify the FPS and aspect ratio in the ffmpeg commands, which meant I had to do everything manually.
Overall I'm fairly happy with how this upscale turned out. It doesn't look that much better than the raw, but it's definitely a noticeable improvement.
