I couldn't find any Handa-kun releases to my liking so here you go! Video from SFEO-Raws, audio from DHD's release - converted to FLAC. Chapters from Cleo's release - I renamed them all (they were named chapter 1, chapter 2, etc..) to follow the same chapter naming convention from CTR's Barakamon release.
Subtitle notes
This is the first time I made my own version of subtitles, hope you like it :) The only subtitles I could find for this show were HorribleSubs' and Merchant's (who both don't have a fancy styled OP/ED). Bakemono also started on this series, but sadly quit after doing the first four episodes. Bakemono was by far the best, but for consistency's sake I didn't want to use them for my first 4 episodes and Merchant for the rest. So, I decided to make my own version. Since Handa-kun is the prequel anime to Barakamon I decided that I wanted (again, for consistency) to match the subtitle style of CTR's Barakamon release (which uses SallySubs). I took Merchant's subtitles, styled them accordingly to fit the Barakamon release and added / synced in Bakemono's OP/ED. There is one song in episode 4, I also took the subtitles for that from Bakemono's release (but left it out in the signs & songs track since they actually re-sang the song with different lyrics in English, so it wouldn't match nicely).
tl;dr subs: UDF
- Merchant text
- SallySubs styling (from Barakamon)
- OP/ED from Bakemono
- cleanup, retiming, restyling and adding OP/ED by UDF

Nice (except unnecessary dual audio).
Awesome thank you and unlike some, the dual audio is greatly appreciated and easy to remedy for anyone that doesn't want it :p
So much scene bleeds oh god
I can't help noticing that changing truehd to flac increased the size (at least for track 1, didn't check the others).
@StazCherryBlood Yeah that's true, but I'm no fansubber so this is the most I'll be able to do. Merchant's subs have flaws but it was the best I could find since Bakemono never finished theirs. If anyone feels like doing a quality check on these and fix some of the issues, please by all means. @ElCid You're right, that's odd. Perhaps it has something to do with how TrueHD handles multi-channel in comparison to FLAC, since the 2.0 Japanese tracks do are smaller. I've no idea.
Apparently Merchant left quite a few issues with the signs in episode 6 that I did not notice until I started watching the show recently. I fixed them, you can download the new subs here: https://mega.nz/file/DohgjaZB#W-pCjW7A5mYh92TWGfzZMfi41Ds0tGXOFo9Qdz36sUs
I also added episode 5 but you can pretty much ignore that, the only thing I changed there is the position of a sign. Moved it to above the japanese visual instead of below, because that made it easier to read.
Thanks!
