Uploader Notes: Experimenting with x265 encoding. Overall I will more than likely be using it going forward for a number of reasons. x265 is very good at maintaining detail particularly in dark scenes, I also found that x265 retains a lot more edge detail than x264. I had avoided x265 when it initially came around but the x265 encoder has been steadily maturing over recent years and I feel it's mature enough and widely supported enough that moving to it should be negligible from an end-user perspective. File sizes should stay close to the file sizes of my previous x264 encodes. My goal in moving to x265 is not to reduce file size but rather increase visual transparency and detail.
