[Nipah-Subs] Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou - 03/ When They Cry
Well, I guess I am finally "doing it myself", thanks for the shitty subs Funimation. This is essentially my own fansub project that I have successfully dragged Pikminiman onto. It's a script overhaul to fix some of the dialogue quirks that Funimation fucked up along with adding proper timing & some Typesetting (whatever signs Funi translated). Every character has unique dialogue styles, if that bothers you, oh well. I don't know Japanese, I am working solely off of Funi's script, cross referencing the Visual Novel, a decade of Higurashi nonsense stuffed in my head, help off of 4chan, and whatever other sources I can find. Considering this is a sequel, I will not be diverging too far from the main script, but I will still be keeping the VNs close for reference. Also encoded so there's no Funimation logo

Considering that I am actually going through with this, I want to make it clear that I am not shitting on Funi's translation (I didn't even know it was some sort of debate right now, lmao). I am just really fucking autistic about Higurashi and want it to have a proper release (what the fuck does "decringifying dialogue" mean???) before the blu-rays eventually come out. This is primarily a project for myself that I would consider more of a "Higurashi fan" release, I will include the Funi script (unedited) as a 2nd track in my batch for 1-3 (as well as episodes onward). I already made a V2, so it would be pointless to make a V3 if I am going back to fix a few things anyways.
I have no plans to leave visible "TL notes" in the subsequent releases, don't worry lol.
Katrina is a good translator even if she sometimes fails. I’d also like to add that she’s a long time fan of the series so I believe she also knows what she’s doing.
8thsin once said that even the best translator will have at least 1 big error in each episode and he was absolutely right.
I’d suggest against editing her subs if you don’t know japanese but that’s just my humble opinion.
