Random question, what's the point of this? (sounds a bit passive aggressive, but I am actually curious as I do not understand it) Am I missing something? (Same question for the nekopara release) Is it just the slightly better video quality? And what does TPP mean? (nvm I guess you mean timing post processing)

Many people including me want a better video quality. In this case, Magia Record source is pretty shit and I'm trying to erase those artefacts. I can't qualify my encodings as a slightly better video quality, mainly because I attach great importance to it. I mean, you're watching video and sound. It's still important, don't you think?

Depending on how important it is, you could also just wait or the blu-rays..

On top of that I am too stupid to tell the major difference I guess. I frame compared it and the only differences I can see is a slight color variation and some finer detail, like on the wood wall bottom left and the wood table.. just every fine wood detail really, but do you even spot that in those short times? Guess it depends on how much each person pays attention to it, I never compared, I just only ever watched the HS rip, which is fine on a 1440p 32" screen .. to my eyes anyway. Although I do run a VS sharpen filter on top of most shows, i hate blur, might go with your rip though, is wakanim always 1 ep behind? (if thats where u got it from)

That is an awful comparison site to use. Use something like slowpics instead, since that at least allows you to view the image at full resolution as opposed to a zoomed version. Also please, take more than just 1 screenshot at a time. You really can't draw any conclusions with such a limited pool of comparisons.

EDIT: I also just realized your screenshots are jpg, and you're actually comparing two jpg's alongside each other... Dude, c'mon.

they're png's you silly, done via mpv's screenshot function... guess that site turns em into JPG's though.. still gets my point across, I compared them locally beforehand anyway and I forgot the name of slowpics, all I had in my firefox history was that weird framecompare site and screenshotcompare, the latter had another issue so I went with the first.

My dude, how about you actually look at the suggestion I gave you beforehand (which you even agreed with was good it seems?). If your first thought is to compare super bright frames in a super dark show where it's banding galore in HS, then I don't believe you're worth listening to when it comes to which encode is better. And when I said it made it an even worse site, I wasn't even telling you off further for using it, just showing that there's even less reasons to bother using that, or using that as an example to other people. You decided to take it as an "oh, he *must* think I used that site to compare and he can't read that I did them locally!" argument when it wasn't even that.

I also lol'd when you said you don't want to start a discussion after posting a huge comment and proclaiming the uploader was "getting defensive" for simply answering a question (that you gave, no less!). Get your head out of your ass, good sir. You're not as good of a person as you probably believe you are, nor some kind of innocent party.
