@AdamEve They didn't skip anything simply because they're not a fansub, they just rip the series from the legal streaming services, but since in this case the license was taken by Netflix (or at least Netflix Japan for now) we're screwed.

Anything that is not HorribleSubs is the alternative to use.

@eXmendiC Either that wasn't available when I downloaded a RAW or I overlooked it. Either way, next time I won't use Ohys-Raw. I'm actually fairly new to fansubbing solo and I'm not all too familiar with the reputations of each RAW source. Thanks for your input though!

As said before, Netflix licensed it so nobody else can get it. So you wouldn't find it on other platforms. Unless some fansub group comes out and starts subbing it. As for Horrible subs their only job is ripping from Crunchyroll and other anime streaming website. Horrible subs doesn't have access to Netflix so impossible for them to rip it. Kinda annoyed by the fact that some people think Horrible subs is some legit subbing/encoding anime fansub group. While practically they don't do a shit except hit a button and start ripping it from Crunchyroll and other paid streaming website. Don't give them the credit they don't deserve.

what does being perfect have to do with anything? using the best available video source, a task that requires little skill and no effort on your part, is the bare minimum possible. in fact, you could still delete this torrent and reupload it but use the netflix rip instead of ohys.

@herkz Like I mentioned before, when I began subbing the episode, Ohys was the only thing I saw. I apologize if this upsets you, but I wasn't aware of how much people disliked them. I will admit that I'm relatively mnew to fansubbing, and aside from this release, I've only done one other sub, so I wasn't fully aware of the source's full reputation.

@Marmotzel Yes I do plan to continue, and yes I will be switching to Better-Raws most likely. I couldn't recall seeing them when I searched for a RAW, so it's possible that they uploaded that after I had already begun work, but for now on I'll use them as a RAW source.

That doesn't have anything to do with anything you "claimed" neither about toxicity on nyaa. The problem is that you failed at the basics. Used the worst source of all the ones avaible, you overlooked it without a reason. [Better-Raws] was uploaded 2 minutes after the first raw showed up here and it has the trusted mark so I have no clue about why would download anything else or use anything else for your release.

You want to do subtitles? That's fine but at least follow some basic knowledge that fansubbers already shared through all the years. Your subs timing is messed up, you don't need to let empty time spaces from a line if the next comes right after it, their position is too low, you can't watch properly the scene if you need to turn your eyes to the very bottom of the screen. The video quality is absolute garbage.

Just because you're making your own subs from scratch doesn't mean that you're imune to criticism, if you're doing something wrong people will call you out for it.

@aguywithaname if you think that someone can't criticize because you're not doing the same subs... well... you're stupid. The major mistakes are being pointed so the uploader can improve the release. Just because, right now, this may be the best release for this show doesn't mean you need to spread your legs to it. I am perfectly fine with feedback and I take all of it to heart. eXmendiC game me actual constructive criticism, and you can tell in my reply that I took it as such. I even consider most of what you said to be constructive criticism. Herkz on the other hand, I would not consider constructive criticism. It was overtly negative and offered no constructive criticism outside of essentially "You're an idiot for not using Better-Raws." and basically complaining more than giving me useful feedback. I'm not going to use Ohys-Raws for Episode 2. I've said that multiple times now. Any other criticism will be kept in mind as I'm working on Episode 2. I didn't spend all day yesterday making these subs for people to call it worthless. I want to make a quality product.

@Yogart Thank you, I'm glad not everyone here is biting my head off over that. It was an honest mistake. I genuinely didn't know. The only other series I've subbed was Youkai Watch and I get all of my raws for that from Leopard-Raws so I had virtually no other experience with other sources.

You have done fine and choose what source you want ..it is a free world and you can do as you like and we appreciate your effort very much. You need to develop a bit of a filter to ignore the trolls. The bottom line is that you made a good effort and shared a fine series. My concern was seeing this fine show aired to a wider audience in the West, I can watch it any time here at home in Japan, but I like to support the really good shows to a wider audience. And in Japan we do not attack people rudely for making a sincere effort, we say thank you and if we have suggestions we either do it privately or politely as a suggestion not as a command or attack. Thank you again. And i am well aware of how and what Horrible do and they do a fine job as well.

@Otaku_J-san No, I didn't chuck it into Google Translate. I did part of it by ear and part of it with the Japanese closed captions from Netflix Japan (once I was able to get my hands on them). I will admit I frequented my dictionaries and such but a lot of people do. I wouldn't be surprised if I got a few things a bit off, though. I'm still learning and I had no one available to proofread and QC for me. I'm hoping I can find someone to do that for me with Episode 2.

i don't really have the time to explain the basics of fansubbing. i've done it before it it takes weeks. fansubbing isn't something you can just do with no experience and expect to do a good job. like, look at the timing thing snyte mentioned. that's something you wouldn't really know or think is wrong. there's 50 different things like that.

Snyte and eXmendiC gave me constructive criticism. They told me that Ohys sucked and who I should go for next and other things to help improve my next release. Not only did you not do any of that, you just decided to insult. Of course I'm going to have a problem with that. I have absolutely no problem with constructive criticism, but I do have a problem with being insulted like that.

There were several people here that voiced their constructive criticism on my release, and I've noted it and am already revising my approach to Episode 2, as well as probably releasing a higher-quality version of the softsubs later this week. Herkz, on the other hand, wasn't constructive at all. He was just complaining and insulting me for being a newbie. He is the only in these comments that I have a problem with. No one has perfect fansubs. Nobody. It's ridiculous to expect 100% perfection from a newbie who isn't claiming to be perfect in the first place.

Just woke up. I didn't know herkz was infamous for being a jerk like that. If I had known that before I probably never would have given him the time of day. Regardless, thank you all for your kind words and feedback. I'm doing some adjusting to my styling, trying to see what will work best, as well as fixing some timing issues, and these changes will be present in my release of Episode 2. Two users have also approached me and have offered help with more proofreading and quality control, which I didn't have extensive help for in this release. Hope you guys enjoy my future releases. Like others said, the fact that a new subber is trying to make subs because nothing else is available, especially nothing from "ESTABLISHED" fansub groups, and then experienced subbers insult him for making a lot of mistakes, just goes to show what dire straights we're in. It's as if a house is burning down, people are just standing around watching, someone comes with a small hose to try to put some of the fire out, then some firefighter in full gear who's doing nothing just criticizes the person for not using a fire hydrant and a fire truck and everything else. Then where the hell is your fire truck and equipment, why arent you doing anything? It's all so tiresome.

Thanks for the subs. Ignore that trash. There are few other annoyance that may creep up if you continue to do more episodes but not as sickening as that thing above. Most of these won't ever say it to your face.

If you care about the video quality (I don't for TV broadcast) take the advice from eXmendiC and others you found helpful as you wrote.

@NeonToaster Thanks for the upload! But could I make a request? Could you possibly change the naming format you're using for the file? If possible, please change it to something like [NeSubs] Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san S2 - 01 [720p][Softsub] I ask because I have a script for downloading, renaming and copying animes to my media center (that runs Kodi on a raspberry pi), and it uses the file name to do all that stuff. It already understands the format I suggested, but I'd have to make some modifications to understand the naming scheme you're using. By the way, if you need a programmer, I can lend you a hand.
