Finally an episode with both cultural and historical stuff!

Extremely useful info for this episode:

• Shijou Kawaramachi (Google Maps) — it's a lively part of central Kyoto, where two streets, Shijou and Kawaramachi insects. This place really contrasts with historical part of Kyoto with all its modern buildings, shopping malls and high-end fashion shops. So if you want to do some shopping in Kyoto, this is the best place for that. It's also not that far from Nishiki Market from episode 12.
• Settai — while the temptation to just translate it as "business party" and call it a day was super high, I decided to leave it as settai and make a little translator note. So! You might heard about nomikai, that is kind of event in companies when salarymen gather in bar or izakaya to drink together. Settai is close to it, but at the same time it's super far. It's written as 接待 and basically means “Business entertainment” (“to connect” + “to entertain/to practice hospitality/to play host”). When nomikai is drinking inside the company, with your fellow colleagues, settai is when one company invites another one (think client or potential client) to spend some time together and build relationships between them. • Edamame is a way of prepartion of immature soybeans in the pod. The pods are boiled or steamed and may be served with salt. In Japan however, they are usually blanched in 4% salt water. Super tasty.
• "Nuances of dialect" that our poor Tokyoite salaryman mentions is Kansai-ben, a dialect that people in Kansai region use. Basically every character in this anime talks in Kansai-ben. And while it might sounds the same, there are some slight differences in grammar (very slight, but they are still there) and most importantly, pitch accent.
• Renge as known as Chinese spoon or Duck spoon is that one spoon you might have seen in anime when characters go to eat some ramen.
• Honnou-ji Temple (Google Street View) — a buddhist temple. What makes it famous, though, is so called Honnō-ji Incident when daimyō (Japanese feudal lord) Oda Nobunaga was betrayed by one of his generals, Akechi Mitsuhide, and forced to commit seppuku (or _harakiri, ritual suicide) by setting the temple on fire. After what happened the Honnou-ji was rebuilt on a different site in Kyoto, where our hero went to after his late-night dinner with Chitose-chan.
• The phrase "The enemy is at Honnou-ji" was said by Akechi Mitsuhide, that's why Chitose-chan was asked to make an impression of Oda Nobunaga.
• The end-card is reference to the 16-century portrait of Oda Nobunaga.
