OK, I understand why you alter the number of columns to remove the anamorphic. But why alter the number of rows? Japanese DVDs work under the NTSC (720x480) not PAL (720x576) standard. Does increasing the number of rows does not end up adding unnecessary artifacts to the image? ... OK, the images do not seem to bring artifacts, I suppose you use some post-filter to "clean", but the size of the file tells me that the image ended up being softened (aka, losing details). Now I understand why quality fans prefer to rip DVDs without changing the resolution.
