There are some references to baseball anime and real-life baseball in this episode, for example one shot mirrors a famous shot from Kyojin no Hoshi, another a particular scene of a game where the catcher and umpire's limbs' position resembles a manji or swastika and the character of "Gambrel-kun" is probably a reference to Craig Kimbrel.

More importantly and interestingly, Anna's voice actress Serizawa Yuu also threw the ceremonial first pitch for a baseball game not too long ago (the 24th of April 2018 – Saitama Seibu Lions, whom Yuu threw for, vs the Chiba Lotte Marines).
